Not sure what the difference is between used and certified pre-owned cars? There are a variety of distinguishing factors between both. We’ve broken down the pros and cons of CPO vs. used models, so you can make an informed purchasing decision. Continue reading to find out more about the pre-owned and certified pre-owned Honda models available at Ken Ganley Honda North Olmsted!

Used Vehicles

When it comes to CPO vs. used vehicles, it’s important to keep in mind that used models come in a variety of makes, models, and years. However, every pre-owned vehicle has had previous owners, making them a more affordable option than new Honda models. For example, our used vehicles priced under $15K are some of the most modestly priced selections in our entire inventory. Keep these tips in mind when shopping for a used car:

  • With proper service and maintenance, some vehicles can last upwards of 200,000 miles. High-mileage used cars aren’t always bad options, especially if you’re on a strict budget.
  • You should discuss any vehicle issues that you notice, either with the dealership or the private seller. If you plan to purchase the car even though it has a few problems, that’s 100% your choice. Just make sure you factor money for the repairs into your shopping budget.
  • Although OEMs don’t require that standard used cars be inspected before sale, Ken Ganley Honda North Olmsted wants to make sure our customers get the highest value for their dollar, so we thoroughly inspect all of the used vehicles offered at our dealership. You should navigate a private sale with extra caution, since private sellers don’t have the reputation of a well-established dealership.

Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles

So, what makes a certified pre-owned vehicle different from a standard used vehicle? CPO models have a previous ownership history, but they must pass a manufacturer-specified inspection and come backed by warranty coverage. Our certified used vehicles are of the highest quality and must meet the Honda CPO Program standards to qualify. For example, to meet the Honda requirements for a CPO vehicle, each model must:

  • Be 6 years old or newer
  • Have less than 80,000 miles
  • Successfully pass a 182-point mechanical and appearance inspection
